i assembled this cd as a last-minute replacement for the horrid music that my friend would otherwise be sure to play during a bonfire at his house last week. the clinic song (which i detest) was thrown in for him, the built to spill song (which i somewhat like) for my boyfriend, who helped with the sequencing. in spite of the fact that this mix didn't involve the usual meticulous planning, i really like it. it's music that's all too appropriate for transience and for (mercifully ephemeral) suburban contentment, for sitting under quilts around shoddily built fires in backyards and for car windows down in january rain.
