Comment:
a tribute to the milwaukee scene, past and present. I included what is probably our most famous export (besides beer), the violent femmes, along with more localized bands. there are tons more i would have liked to include on this, but i don't have any recordings by them (shout out to: the etiquette, the reverse, the killowatts, milwaukee talkies, the exotics, and all the rest i can't think of at the moment). also, as a sidenote, the cover songs on here are performed by bands who don't usually do covers - i'm saying that they are not just the local party tavern band that plays all your favorite hits. most of the covers on here come from an excellent comp called "gag me with a spoon" on Don't Records - an 80's tribute. if you get to milwaukee sometime ,check out the Cactus Club and Shank Hall for local good music. enjoy!Feedback:
Outstanding job, Brad. I was always impressed during the 80's by the fellow freaks from up north. To be fair, Madison had some great bands too, a few of which you've included here. Definitely go ahead with a second volume so you can add some Killdozer, Appliances & Poopshovel.
Wow, swell job. Some I've heard, many I haven't. I hope more folks pay their local scenes as nice a tribute.
I haven't heard any of these except, of coarse, the Femmes, but it must rock , knowing you .
I'm sure this mix kicks ass! I'd love to hear it someday.
