Comment:

I have quite a few old Swedish pop tunes by female artists, but they're spread across several CDs. This consolidation mix is an effort to correct that intolerable situation.

Almost all these tracks are copies of US, UK and continental hits, re-made for local consumption. Swedish pop singers have a reputation of singing with a particularly clear tone. Many verge on easy listening, but it's Swedish easy listening, goddammit! I don't know any of the Swedish girls who were rockin' in the 60s, but I'm sure they sang in English, just like all the other "cool" pop groups of the 60s: Hep Stars, Tages, Shanes, etc. The last two tracks on this roughly chronological CD are by the ABBA girls, and they begin to verge in another musical direction. But that's another story!
