Comment:

First of all, let me say I re-wrote some long-winded liner notes for "Wasn't Made For These Times - A Tribute to Fallen Legends" that may be a better use of your time than this mix. Anyhow. I think my original plan here is pretty clear, however the execution definitely lagged toward the end. You see, I got tired of it, and tried to finish it yesterday afternoon with a friend's advice and music collection, which explains some picks. I had never heard De La Soul before, and I'm not really looking to rush out and buy their stuff, after my one experience. I do have to say I thought I got off to a great start (til about "Noise Annoys" when I realized there is not one song in the history of mankind to begin with the word annoys) when I had to begin stretching. Then we get into the liberal use of parentheses and the last segue which came from my overwhelming and irrational desire to try to get the whole "Finnegan's Wake" effect, which didn't really work anyhow. I had never heard that Butthole Surfers song either, to be perfectly honest. Other than those two though, I was able to find the rest in my collection, somewhere(though I had to download Perry Como) and the effect...well it's less than stunning. I'm betting the flow will be non-existent(because I didn't try to make it sound nice, I just tried to meet my requirements). So anyhow, there it is, an experiment, and a failed one in many regards. I must say though that there are some damn fine picks that I was proud I could work in(actually there are only a few I'm not happy with). And I like the title; truthfully that's the biggest reason I even went through with posting this. And sure, I could have made it "The Tell-Tale Heart of Darkness Under the Sun Also Rises", but you reach a point where it's just masturbation.

If I was held at gunpoint and forced to pick a favorite 'Mats song, I would have to agree with you, I think. Thankfully I don't forsee a situation in which that would happen.

I know, I know. I really wanted to have it end with the word "if" though, so it could have to wrap-around effect, back to "If Only You Were Lonely", and there just aren't many songs that end in "if". The worst part is I had to cheat to make it fit anyhow, with ending the previous song with "I". Say what you want about the man though, but he had an excellent taste in sweaters.
