Comment:

A collection of songs I've enjoyed this month. The title comes from my friend Matt, who sent it to me in an email to remind me that he did, in fact, drive Elvis' Mercedes at high speeds. Matt requested tracks 9 and 18 and he's been talking about the Knack a lot lately also, hence track 20. The four Camper Van Beethoven songs are here because I like them, but also because I'm going to see them tomorrow night (1/24). Ought to be a good time.

Nice. They were here(Minneapolis) last night, I believe, but it was a 21+ show. Damn those 21+ shows. Being 19 sucks, on that level. Anyhow, lots of great picks.

Being the "Matt" of the "driving Elvis' Mercedes at high speeds" fame, I must say that this is a great mix that I look forward to receiving! And I am honored to be responsible for the title of this mix!

The Knack track is a sweet one,and I am glad to finally get "No More Mister Nice Guy" on CD!

Great one as usual, Rich!

OK, well, long story short I write a classic car newsletter in the Bucks County, PA area and due to my "credentials" (Yeah right)I was asked to do the stories for the New Hope Auto Show program last year. One of the stories was on the 1969 Mercedes 600 purchased by Elvis in 1970. He drove it for 7 years and then gave it away. I went to meet the collector who owned it in order to do the story. he showed me all the documentation and phtos of Elvis with the car, so it was totally legit. After riding shotgun for awhile he pulled over and said, "Ok let's switch seats."
So I hopped in and sat in the same seat as Elvis, grabbed the same wheel Elvis grabbed for 7 years, swung back out onto the road and behaved myself until the guy said "Hey, how many chances like this are you going to get? Get into it!" So I punched it and we sailed along beautiful Bucks County backroads for about 15 minutes.
It was really, really cool. A moment I will always remember!

Thanks for the great story! I'm sure the ghost of Elvis was watching you from the back seat. So were you able to scrape off any Elvis-chewed gum from under the seat?

Really sweet. Love the winking Buck Owens-Ringo pairing too! Enjoy the show!
