Comment:

OK, I can't take credit for any of this, except arrangement. All are songs mentioned or prominent in High Fidelity (a companion mix includes the 19 or so songs mentioned by Rob as his all-time Top 5...those aren't included in this). Inspired by "Nick Hornby's Songbook"...get it, its incredible. I don't have the book on hand, so my memory might be sketchy on some contexts. Correct me if you care:

Track 1 is on his top 5 side one, track ones.
Tracks 2 and 3 are mentioned early, when he's figuring the connection between his own state of mind and the pop music he loves.
Track 4, also a track one, side one
Track 5, a rarity offered to him by a woman miffed at her cheating husband.
Track 6 and 7 favorite spins for DJ Rob.
Track 8, Side one, track one
Track 9 and 10, On Barry's Monday mix tape (Dick prefers the mitch ryder version of lupe lu, though barry used the everly bros)
Track 11, Rob's top 5 Costello songs
Track 12, Rob is discrete about how far he got w/ marie ("you know that Charlie Rich song, behind closed doors...I'm a firm believer in that")
Track 13, Barry's bands name, at one point
Track 14, Side one, track one
Track 15, 16 and 17, Rob wants played at his funeral
Track 18, You've seen the movie, right? Plus, side one, track one.
Track 19, Marie covers it (i think)
Track 20 and 21, played at Robs triumphant return as a DJ.
