Comment:

mix for markus schoen in germany. he suggested karl smith (sodastream) solo, luckies and the guild league. i picked the rest, which is mostly aussie/kiwi artists, some greek indie pop (fantastic something), uk-indie pop (delta - with members of ex-sarah records band the sea urchins), as well as some 60s pop psychadelia (cryan' shames) thrown in for good measure. title courtesy of fantastic something.
addendum: i'm surprised no one on here has put any of karl smith's solo 7" on a mix - it's simply stunning. i believe you can still order it on the chapter music/corduroy records website, at: http://www.corduroy.com.au/chapter/chapter_catalogue.html...(it's listed under "chapter 19") so go and get it already!!

Some great choices Sue! I've been reading quite a bit about Delta..., "Hard Light." (Is that the disc It's Alright" comes from..?)

Yup, looks great... you've already been a lot of help to me in starting out with Lucksmiths and Sodastream and such, I'm sure those other Aussie groups are a great catches as well. Markus is one lucky dog.

karl smith has a beautiful voice. i'd love to hear his solo stuff, i think it'd be better than sodastream.

haven't heard karl smith solo but sodastream are great and he has one of my favourite voices. and yes, i agree with you. sunset studies was far better. for some reason i cannot click with the new stuff like i did with the old. but i saw augie march the day before at bdo, and they played train, so i thought i'd put it on. :-) mainly because when i saw them, these guys in the audience wanted to hear train so whenever it went quiet they'd start up with the "traaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiinnn" until they played it. which was quite funny. and jbt is a bit so/so. i'd compare him more to Jeff Lang, though. ever heard him? if you have you'll never be able to go back to jbt. ;-) did you happen to check out my oz music mix?

I have never heard 9/10 of the songs here, but from the praise it's receiving, I really wish I did.
