Comment:

As Ion suggested, it was time to dedicate an entire mix to my glorious train commute from Oakland to Davis and back again. I realize that the Wilburys song isn't specifically train related, but it seemed to make a nice finish, and the title was appropriate. Thanks to Rob for the Roches track, and to Ion for the inspiration. =)

Very nice, right here. Some picks I wouldn't have remembered. My two favorite train songs not on here would be Waits' "Downtown Train" and the Dolls' "Subway Train", but you've got constraints. Good job.

There are 7,324,592 train songs. At last count. Some nice picks here, Bugsy. The Yardbirds, Hank, and Elvis "tracks" are classics. Enjoy your commute.

Franklin's right, as usual. Nice mix buglady! (I think we only overlap on one song.., that Yardbirds song, from your mix to my "trains" mix.) Ride those rails baby!

Whoops! I'd intended to include Downtown Train, and completely forgot! But as Franklin poined out, there are so many train songs, it's easy to fill up a disc anyway. Maybe I'll perform a substitution...

I had thought of doing something like this, too. But, now I don't have to. Mine would have included Drug Train by both Social D and The Cramps, but this one is cool too.

Excellent as always Ms. Buglady. Hope the commute doesn't involve too many "Midnight Train(s)."

Catch that train! a good mix of some of the classic train songs & some unexpected surprises.
For a commute that involves school, though, it's a good idea to 'take the A train'!

Nothing touches the heart quite like a good train song. These are some great ones.

I choo choo choose this mix to be fantastic! Glad that you took me up on my suggestion. I think Mr. Onn exaggerated a bit on the number of train songs, but you picked some excellent ones - but no Crazy Train?;) On another note, sorry to see your Raiders get stomped on by the Bucs in our backyard.

Some really great stuff here. Wonderful! You beat me to the punch too. I was going to whip up a similar mix for a friend with a train fetish. Bob Marley's "Stop That Train" comes to mind, but only because I've used it before ;-)

Reminds me of the classic bad joke with the punchline - "Pardon me Roy, is that cat that chewed your new shoes?" What is it about trains that makes them so easy to romanticize? That Monkees song is one of my earliest rock memories - my mom, hipster that she was, bought me the first Monkees album when I was a wee lad. And music has been downhill ever since. Nothing but boss picks here - it kicks my caboose! (sorry, lost my train of thought). Oh, the hilarity.

Thanks everyone! To be accurate, the train leaves at 6:25 am, not at 8... and I have to get up at 4:30 am to catch my ride to the station. So although I don't catch many Midnight trains Curtis, it doesn't feel far off. Oh, and Joey, I'm currently not a student, so Take the A Train wasn't necessary.
Ion, my boyfriend was far more disappointed about the Raiders than I was....I don't really follow football much. I hope those unruly Raiders fans didn't trash your backyard too badly!

You also forgot that brilliant Sheena Easton hit from several years back. Heh.

I missed a few of your mixes while I was "away" Deanna. But I see they are as good as ever! Great stuff, especially like the J Brown, Wilburys and Glenn Miller. Eclecticism rules, ok!
