Comment:

Inspired by a listen to the underrated Wu-Tang disc, "The W", a few nights ago. I really dig the track w/ Isaac Hayes (a particularly demented affair) and wanted to include it in a mix. Of course, I had to bookend it with the song it samples, "Walk On By" and then it all fell together from there. Many thanks to Curtis for turning me on to the Soft Machine and Derek Bailey through his continually great "Melange de bruit" series.

Of course, you're welcome Shawn. This looks really great. Love the Golden Smog through Ayler section and the Portishead -> Isaac Hayes especially.

Thanks, laufi. Yes, it's the Neil Young song. I downloaded it some time ago, but it's from a promo single of the track "Keys" off of their disc "Weird Tales".
Good stuff.

Yes, that "Walk on By" is great. Have you heard Aretha's version? Pretty killer, too. God, I old enough to have seen Isaac Hayes in his chain mail performing his Hot Buttered Soul hits on American Bandstand ... it was cool ...
