Comment:

Made simply because everyone has their own list of personal favorite covers. The only real criteria for this mix was it had to be a cover that was either better than the song its covering or just as good in a different way. That criteria was followed somewhat loosley. Weezer's Hit Me is fucking good. I dont care what anyone says, you can sing along with this version without shame, cuz its off the hizzook. Save Ferris's "come on eileen' is the best version that you will find of that song... ever. Foo Fighters version of stairway definately isnt better, but it might be more entertaining. And youu could substitute "Tiny Dancer" for the Foo Fighters 'stairway' if Elton is more your thing than zepplin is. Id say the same thing about JOhn Pizzarelli's version of "when im 64", its not exactly better, but its not worse. And if youre a fan of the original youll want to hear his jazzy take on it. And the last three cuts of the album, they just make me smile. Reel Big Fish's 'new york new york' is more cute than good probably, but hey i like it. Moxy Fruvous's Minnie will just put a smile on your face. I cant comment beyondthat, itll just make you smile, and its a good sing along song. Ive been informed that the last track is by the Gourds but if you get it through kazaa itll be double credited to both Phish and "dave mathews band feat blues traveler". Anyways, its the 'tour de force' of the album. The 'load blower' if you will, cuz its damned good to hear "got my mind on my money and my money on my mind" set to strings. Anyways, enjoy, and add your suggestions if you will. PEACE

er, you sure that's weezer? as for "gin and juice", that's the gourds--an offshoot of phish.

The "Gin and Juice" cover is by The Gourds. It sounds nothing at all like Phish or the Dave Matthews Band. Also, "strings" typically refers to violin, cello... not to guitars, banjos...

I'm pretty sure Reel Big Fish never did "New York New York," unless it's a live recording. You *might* be refering to a band called Skanatra, a ska band from NJ that does all Frank Sinatra covers. Then again, maybe not. On the POSITIVE, I can tell you spent a lot of time making the comments on this mix... whether or not its time well spent is another story... just kidding, man, good job! Positive reinforcement! Platitudes!

This will probably be the last time i post comments about my selections, cuz damnit, people dont like them. On "Cheer UP" Reel big's 2002 album, they totally cover New York New York, im 100% positive on that. It's track 12.... and ill check out that ska band, cuz that sounds cool as well.
