Comment:
There was no category for "breaking up with my parents" or "graduating from college and moving out" so Mixed Genre it is. My parents never got my music, nor do they understand non-classical music in general, so I have my doubts as to whether they'll actually get anything out of listening to this. But I'll be optimistic. Anyway, here's some thoughts on me, and moving out. A toast to the people who gave me life but never understood it after I was twelve. Slip Sliding Away is especially poignant given the silence in my parents' house: "There was a father who had a son / He longed to tell him all the reasons for the things he'd done / He came a long way just to explain / He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping and turned around and headed home again." Suggestions are appreciated.

Whoah, great topic, and damn do I understand where you're coming from. Some other songs that might do well here: Nirvana "Serve the Servants", Green Day "Coming Clean", Ani DiFranco "Born a Lion" or "Angry Anymore", Beulah "My Horoscope Said it would Be a Bad Year", Mates of State "10 Years Later", Pearl Jam "Daughter", Radiohead "Exit Music (For a Film)", Rainer Maria "Thought I Was", Texas is the Reason "Back and to the Left", Tori Amos "Mother" or "Winter", Nico "The Fairest of the Seasons", Hot Water Music "Rooftops", Springsteen "My Hometown", Lisa Germano "Geek the Girl", Bright Eyes (too many to list that would work, maybe "June on the West Coast"), Janis Joplin "Kozmic Blues". Oh my God. I could go on for days. I hope that helps, that was just off the top of my head. Oh, and hey.. when it's all done, drop me a line at baby_linzer@hotmail.com. I've been dying to make a similar mix.. why not trade?
To follow up, compliments on your choices as they are. Not tracks I would have thought of immediately, but ones that will make a fine, fine mix.
Hey, did you ever give this mix to the rents? I remember you working on it but I do not recall you completing it or sending it off.
