Comment:

So there I was, temping at the real estate tax research company, when I walked by this coworker's desk and saw that she was listening to Joni Mitchell's "Blue." So, of course, I had to stop and chit chat about the merits of such a fine album. Then the next day, I walked by and she was listening to Death Cab for Cutie's "the Photo Album." So, okay, now you've piqued my interest, I thought this place was populated solely by dorks (not the good kind of dorks, the bad kind of dorks). Anyways, sos we starts talking about music and whatnot, and she tells me that she plays violin in this band and she starts asking me about good bands with violins in 'em, and of course, I says to her, I says: "I'll make you a mix!" So this is my mix with bands with violins. I wanted to use bands that, if they don't have a full time violinist in the band, at least use violins or strings on a semi-sorta-kinda-regular basis. Of course, after the fact, I says to myself, I says, "How could I leave out Camper van Beethoven?!?" Then a few days after that, I got the last Swords Project record, and I says to myself, I says, "Wow, I really coulda used this on that strings mix." Oh well, that's a good couple of reasons to make a Volume II. Oh yeah, and I got the title from a Superchunk record, who, incidentally, AREN'T EVEN ON THIS MIX! HA! Ain't I kooky!
