one of two mixes made in january to thank teapin for the mixes he sent me in the fall. this one was basically an excuse to share nina simone's version of "to love somebody", which is fantastic; in retrospect, it was a nice exchange for busty brown's version, which you can find on teapin's excellent "run come do rocksteady" (this mix arrived in the mail shortly after i sent this tape off). sadly, the rest of my mix is just shameless pilfering, a woefully brief sampler for the atlantic rhythm & blues series and rhino's unfortunately discontinued "beg, scream & shout" box set.
