Comment:

Finally...I've finished it. The best 80 minutes of representative material that I could procure from Freaks and Geeks, the show that, dare I say it, COULD have almost filled the void in my heart left by the absence of Pete and Pete. That is, until it was cancelled and virtually disappeared. Here's a very small amount of information about this soundtrack, considering how much I could say:
#3 and all other Mike Andrews songs are from the original score.
#5 Feedback is hippie-like guidance counselor Mr. Rosso's band, he provides lead vocals.
#15 is Nick's audition with Dimension, which explains the painfully offbeat drumming.
#16 is even more painful, with Ken on lead vocals and guitar, Daniel on bass, and Nick on drums.
#21 brings up images of Nick's disco dancing in the final episode ... *shudders*
#22 -- my personal favorite. Nick's awkward serenading of Lindsay is a great television moment, even better when you can see her mortified reaction.
So here it is. What you don't see here are the bits of dialogue from the show that sometimes appear between tracks...but it's there, and it's good. The title comes from one of those bits. Hope anyone enjoys this as much as I do.

AWESOME show and great collection! Any idea on the status of the dvd release of the show? There was talk of it, but the licensing of songs may make it prohibitive. It was a sad day when this show, the best in the past 10 years, went off the air.

the status is...pending. i've been on the site within the last few days and they still have a petition up for getting it released on DVD... so I guess anyone who's interested and hasn't signed it yet should definitely head over to www.freaksandgeeks.com or wherever the official site is and sign it, though I don't know how successful it'll be. they realize that it's not exactly a money-making venture, but yeah, it'd be nice of them to release it anyway.

great mix! interesting how Mike Andrews did the score, because I wonder if it's the same Michael Andrews who did the score for Donnie Darko. hmmmmm. because if it is, I bet the score is damn good because that guy is a genius. I'll have to look into that. anyways, I wish I'd gotten more into that show when it was still on air.

I believe that the Mike Andrews is the same who did the Donnie Darko soundtrack. At least, I was operating under that assumption and IMDB confirmed it, though they have been wrong before. Anyway, the score for Freaks and Geeks is damn good, but you'd be surprised--it's quite different from the Donnie Darko score, much simpler, guitar-based 70s-style melodies to match the show.

I loved that show, also I'd have to agree that Micheal Andrews is a genius, for his work on Donnie Darko. A nice mix for a great show.
