Comment:

After hitting 90 degrees for two consecutive days last week, we have been mired in 40 degree weather, with constant rain. So I decided to make a rainy-day type mix to help me get through it. I thought the alt-countryish sounds went well with the soul/blues selection, and I'm happy with how it came out. The original title was "The Queen is Dead Outside the Drag Show", but this choice (from the 'Mats pick) gets at the idea behind the mix rather nicely. "There's a War Raging Outside, I Hope My Grass Stays Green" (from the same song) was also briefly considered. Because I know everyone likes to be kept up to date on my naming rationale.

This looks fantastic, Adam. Love the 'Mats pick (of course) and the stretch from Palace->YLT looks nice, too. Great mix.

Great songs for a great idea. Love the Mountain Goats song. Mixes incorporating old and new songs are always admirable.

Shit... some great picks here: phenomenal Mt. Goats (are you aware that John Darnielle is my true hero of modern music?), Kinks, Buckner, and R & L Thompson picks.

This is lush, mate, I always thought soul and country go well together (ever since hearing 'Nixon', anyway). Mix of the week!

The Jeff Tweedy song is one of his contributions to Golden Smog, the alt-country supergroup with members from the Jayhawks, and um, others, with Jody Stephens of Big Star and Chris Mars of the 'Mats alternating behind the drums. This particular performance is from a show not too long before YHF came out. Thanks for all the comments, and yes I agree, the Mountain Goats are tremendous.

Ion, you're killing me here. I've got a family to feed, house payments to make. Open those pursestrings a bit. What's it going to take to get you in this mix?

Okay, how about $8.75? But that's my final offer. And why are you wasting your time commenting on Christina Aguilara mixes when you should be out supporting your family? ;)
