Comment:
Well, I'm taking the dive into my first single artist mix. Believe it or not, I was really not super familiar with The Fall until the last year or so. I knew who they were and all, but I just never got around to listening to them. It all starts, of course, with AOTM. I really dug a couple of tracks from the group that I picked up on various mixes through trading with Curtis. Then, I noticed EMusic had a bunch of albums (mostly later period stuff from Matador) and I tried some tracks from those and they sounded pretty great. "Paranoid Man in Cheap Shit Room" in particular, was one of my favorites. As time went on, Emusic started posting reissues from Cog/Sinister like "Live at the Witch Trials" and "Early Years". I started digging them more and more. Then, last month Emusic started posting albums from the Beggars Banquet era. Holy motherfuckin' shit!! This was the goods, folks. It's pretty much become a full-blown obsession at this point. I've been tracking down anything I can find and its all good. I know that I sound like a friggin' spokesman for Emusic, but it's been a goldmine for me to explore tons of different artists. They've got TONS of indie stuff, lots and lots of great jazz, Fantasy/Stax box sets...the list goes on. Well worth checking out if that's your thing.Feedback:
Good stuff Shawn! (I'd need "Slang King"...)
Yep, a great band, and a great mix for them.
Yeah, great picks, but it's hard to go wrong. Can't even think of a song of their's that I don't like.
One of the best bands EVER and still going strong. Of course, nothing's better than the Beggar's Banquet period, starting with "This Nation's Saving Grace" . . . (to quote Valis: "I'd need, er, "Pat-Trip Dispenser", "Hot Aftershave Bop", "Cruisers Creek" etc. etc.)
Sorry, man, "Cruisers Creek" IS there, of course . . . so make it "Living Too Late" instead. ;-)
super mix of a great band!
"The doctors need prescriptions, The wives need their pills, So Rowche Rumble" Great stuff Shawn.
damn great stuff
I can't believe I didn't see this one before...
