Comment:

This kind of ended up being a loose narrative, telling the story of a doomed relationship. You'll note, though, that we get through the pre-relationship, and actual relationship very quickly, just so we can wallow in self-pity and anger part for roughly 17 songs. I'm not sure if this says something about me or not. I just really like those types of songs.

For some reason I like pointing out certain songs in my comments, so I'll point out the Scud Mountain Boys and Paul Kelly songs, and say "Jesus, those songs are really damn good." And for what little it's worth, I was going to use a different Ryan Adams song ("Cracks in a Photograph"), but ended up changing my mind at the last instant because I really wanted to hear this song, and use a line from it as the title. If you wanted to argue that it's the best song that he's written, I just might agree with you.

This looks really wonderful Adam. I love Caitlin Cary's version of "Withered and Died" almost as much as the original which I like slightly less than Costello's...I'll shutup now...

Steve, I don't have enough to say which is definitively my favorite, but of the three I do own, "Jackrabbit Slim" is the one I prefer, though the other two (Alive on Arrival and Evergreen Boy) are very good as well. From what I gather, Jackrabbit is his most well known and I think it would make an excellent starting point. And yeah, Curtis, "Withered and Died" is one of those songs that is so beautiful, I'm not sure a bad version could be done. I was happy to see Elvis do it on his new one, and I was really impressed by it, as well. I gave some thought to using it, but I figured I should have some more female voices(other than Linda Thompson, who has been in the last few I've made, I think.) Thanks for the comments.

Tons of great picks on here, Adam. I may need a copy of this in our next trade, once all the baby hub-bub has died down around our house. (Looks like it'll be happening here rather soon.)
