Comment:

The new issue of -Uncut- includes a CD titled "Music inspired by the Byrds." Unfortunately, most of the tracks aren't all that great (lots of generic jangle pop from the 80's on). So I decided to take the few tracks from the set that I did like and add them to my own homemade two-CDR set of the Byrds' "Eight Miles High" and some great jangle-pop records that followed in it's wake (not all of which was necessarily inspired by the Byrds, but probably would have sounded different without them). I'm cutting things off with Husker Du's great cover version, not because I think no great jangle music has followed since, but because the Husker's version is a fine reinterpretation and wraps things up nicely with a whole new generation of musicians doing their own thing.

This is excellent. Someone else noticed the poorness of the byrds cd on uncut. I was very worried it was just me disillusioned by the 80's stuff.
I really like all the tracks I know on here.

The first half is an especially great 'jangly' grouping of 60 gems. Nice!
