Comment:
Bob Seger?!!? WTF? Growing up in Ohio in the late 70s-mid 80s in a blue collar town with working class parents, man, you couldn't avoid Bob Seger. Is he a hack? Well, maybe, but the man did have at least one great song and that's "Turn the Page". A classic road song if there ever was one and an old favorite of mine. Granted, it's the only tune I can tolerate from old Bob these days, but that's OK. Title comes from Kelly Willis' excellent cover of the old 'Mats song.Feedback:
Well, this is pretty great (where the hell did you *find* the Whites' "Isis"?!?), but I can't back up your fondness for "Turn the Page", although I have fun making fun of it sometimes...
Wow. Just a ton of great picks here.
damn good stuff
I'm also in the WTF camp on Bob.., BUT----I have my own "skeletons', so go for it.(We all do.) Good stuff Shawn.
Thanks for the comments, all. I must have broken the board when I posted this last night, cause my mixes usually never stay on top this long.
Rob, I found the WS version of "Isis" floating around on Soulseek. Good stuff, man.

Oh yeah, an addendum to my Seger comments. Like I said, that particular tune (and maybe, "Feel Like A Number") is about all I can stomach from the man. However, it fits in amazingly well between Songs:Ohia and the Screaming Trees.
Seger sounds great on 8-Track. Wish I had a '76 Monte Carlo to play it in. Damn!
I like it very much overall and was never forced to listen to BS, so I'll belive you that it is all sublime.
Lotsa good stuff. Love the X, Uncle Tupelo, Jayhawks and Neko Case picks especially.
Great stuff overall. Bob Segar - grew up with his music, probably liked it at the time, but would I admit to it now??
Looks great. I haven't heard any Bob Seger in years, but I was wondering not long ago how that stuff would hold up.
"turn the page" is cool but bob seger had tons of other great songs...you ever hear "2+2=?", "heavy music", "back in '72", "rosalie", "get out of denver"...hell yeah the man had lots of good ones
Y'know, you're right about that, doorag. I actually do dig on a lot of old Seger. I just don't hear the old stuff nearly as much these days. "Feel Like A Number" is another one of my big favorites from him, as well. Man, it's funny,I was just digging thru your archives, doorag, and you've got a TON of great mixes. I'm getting ready to get the old trading post fired up again in the next few weeks if you wanna work something out?
