Comment:

So, I was listening to the Barrence Whitfield 'Bip Bop Bip' & it got me thinking of the Don Covay version, & everything else just followed naturally, by a strict & inexorable logic -- the musicians here range from r&b bar bands to garage rockers, but apparently none of them could afford lyrics, & the result is probably best described in their own words: oogy wawa ga ga bloop blooparoonie!

joey: Another brilliant mix by the Theme Master! I'm rather boggled and struggling for words that this many of this "ilk" exist! If Burroughs was right-"Language is a virus." then this is surely the anti-potion!

OH MY GOD - THIS IS WONDERFUL! I've always loved that Barrence Whitfield song, but never actually heard the original. What can I give you for this? This kicks all kinds of ass! My mix of the week, fer sure. Nice cover, too! As for Wings.... leave 'em off. (hi rob!)

Oops, I forgot to credit lo-fi jr. for introducing me to the Barrence Whitfield one. -- -- - As for Wings (hi Rob!),
I haven't heard it but I very much doubt that wimpy old ex-Beatle could rock hard enough to get in the same room with the Upsetters or Don & Dewey -

Yeah, Sir Paul can kiss Ronnie Dawson's butt! Ooba Gooba!!! Maybe you should add Roy Orbison's Ooby Dooby, too.

Hey, I didn't say that "Bip Bop" rocked (although this mix does), I just thought the lyrics would be right in line with this stuff. (And don't start with me about Paul, fellas...)

This mix is a great listen, it's almost the soundtrack to a Dadaist movie or something... it's like Huey "Piano" Smith & the Clowns 'Don't you just know it' taken to a 60 minute jam version.
