Comment:

So my best friend and I have nothing in common other than the fact that we have a similar sense of humor and enjoy each other's company. He's a choiropractor, he reads car magazines, is a card carrying member of the Promise Keepers and his favorite bands are Kiss and M÷tley Crne. I'm a 30 year old guy who doesn't own a car and still hangs out in the back at all-ages shows.

So when he asked me to make him a mix to get him up to speed on this whole punk rock craze, I couldn't pass it up. And although it always ended up getting put on the back burner, I finally got around to making it this week.

I think's it's a pretty decent smattering of punk rock classics, proto-alterna quasi-hits, indie/emo new jacks, forgotten favorites, and the occasional cover/novelty to keep his attention. It's by no means a comprehensive primer in punk/indie/underground rock, but it's an okay place to start.

I had a lot of fun making this mix. I dusted off a lot of records that hadn't seen the light of day in years, and when I was finished, not only had I made my friend a halfway decent mix, but I had also ended up with something of a personal soundtrack for the last 15 years of my life.
