Comment:

Another collection of guilty pleasures, joyful space age pop, a soundtrack for a day shopping or driving around, along with some vintage radio commercials to help boost a sense of consumerism. I think I really began to love this music when I realized it was more fun to rebel against my friends ideas of what was cool instead of what my parents thought was acceptable.

The cool building on the postcard was called the glass building and was a diner built into a highway overpass in Vinita Oklahoma. Amazingly , it is still there, sadly, it's now a MacDonalds.

Looks like some cool stuff, grease. And yes, it's still there. I drove under it in June when I went up to see my Mom in Missouri. And yes, it's a McDonalds. I didn't stop.

Oh, the memories... some of this stuff was background music at family parties when I was a kid. I had an uncle real big on these guys. Then they would really rock out with Louis Prima.

As a carrier of "Space Age Pop" (part the first) I can attest to the wicked cool time-slip these things take you on..., listen now but find yourself set down in the six-tees. Good work greased orb!

Cool. Back when rockets and advertising worked. Bonus points for Nordine, Henke & Pandit.

this looks cool - i would love to know where you got some of these old-time commercials. I would like to try something like that on one of my mixes someday

just came upon this one while searching the AotM archives for Horst Jankowski. it also came up the other day in a search for Korla Pandit. ok, so that's it; greaseball1, if you're still alive and breathing, you need to stage a comeback. I will help you. things haven't changed as much as you might think. if Loretta Lynn can do it, you can too. [god, I'm dying to order a Big Mac at that MacDonald's!]
