Comment:

This was a sampler I made for my friends Jenna and Jon, who were both interested in what goth was all about (compiled on 01 March 2003 but given to them around the end of April).

This is primarily goth rock with a few darkwave and ethereal pieces thrown in, to show the different sounds that were out there. Focusing on songs from the 1990s, though some others may have come after 2000, this is meant to showcase the more accessible side of the music to those new to it.

There are some omissions though: while there are some danceable electronic pieces here, I didn't place anything overtly industrial or EBM. Neither did I place anything experimental, avant-garde, or dark ambient. I'm reserving those for the next samplers.

While the song selections here shouldn't prove to be embarrassing after a few years, unlike some from my previous mix from five years ago, I was never really sure while I was making this if I should put more well-known bands and songs or not.

In any case, it took me quite a while to fix the arrangement, and I guess I can say that I'm slowly getting better in making compilations, especially with the way one song flows from the previous to the next.
