Comment:

I got the title from my use of Tom & Jerry clips. I miss Mammy Two Shoes. She was one of the funniest parts of Tom & Jerry. Some folks called her "the black maid" but she wasn't a maid! It was HER house, and Tom was HER cat! You usually see her in her jammies, but in a few she was dressed up and going out on the town. I'm glad they are no longer censoring her on the Cartoon Network. The old Tom & Jerry cartoons were the best, with all the weird voices and stuff. The next tapes I do with swing tunes will have a bunch of the Zoot Suit cat songs and quotes. I wanted to fit "If You're Ever Down in Texas Look me Up!" on this one, but I needed room for some Mammy quotes. She was voiced by Lillian Randolph, who played Sister Sara in "Roots" among other things. Anyway, this is just an eclectic mix of bittersweet songs that I made while remembering Mammy Two Shoes, who was one of the great mysteries of my childhood. You never saw her face! What did she look like? Actually there's a whole history of her here: The Ultimate Mammy Two Shoes Site

Hey, I remember "Polk Salad Annie." And Terry Jacks too, eh. Great selections! Love Kasey doing "The Captain."
