In all the huge repertoire of songs about food, have you ever noticed how few are about health food & eating your vegetables? From junk food to soul food, that's the range of the musician's diet . . .
My buddy Rik maintains that ALL food songs are metaphors for sex, & although I can go along with that for songs like 'Soppin' Molasses' or 'Red Hots & Chili Mac', & yes,
even 'Burnt Toast & Black Coffee', been there too, but
this theory gets pretty frightening when you come to a song like 'Chocolate Covered Ants' or 'Rat Fat on Rye' . . .
