Comment:
a 60s mix i've been threatening to make for a while now. i seem to make mixes that have lots of these songs on them, but i've never made a mix with *all* of them included. the valentines were a perth band and the clique were from south australia. title from the monkees.Feedback:
Classics one and all. Some of my very favourite tunes included here. Beach Boys,The Band, Prunes, Byrds. A great trip(!) down memory lane.
Veeery nice, mylady. Especially to see the great Nazz included here (Have their albums finally been released on CD, or did you rip that from vinyl?)
Really nice one SueEW. (Love that Kinks cut.)The whole thing looks as though "they're finally all together."
"care of Cell 44" is such a cute song... Elliott Smith does a great live cover too.
Love it! Great quote from a great song :)
So many great songs. Beach Boys, the Band and the Zombies, I particularly like.
This is just wonderful. SO many greats.
Just LOVELY! As I said to popkulcher about his WestCoast-mix: Shifting sand has the most incredible psychedelic guitarwork I ever heard! Lovely mix, my favs are, Prunes, Zombies, Lovecraft, Byrds et, etc, =)
Great stuff! Good to see Ides of March. You always have lots of Aussie bands on your mixes, have you heard much Aussie rockabilly from the 50's or 60's ? It's really hard to find here, but I know there was severel artists.
I'm glad you carried out your threat Sue, as this looks great. The Porpoise Song is one of my all-time favorite songs period. Also dig most of the other stuff, some of which I haven't heard. Does XuXu like any of this stuff, or is she still more into the latest indie pop?
Yep. Lots of faves on here! That is one great Kinks song and I can't get enough of that Electric Prunes classic.
Thomas: the nazz released "open your eyes - the anthology" last year on cd, which i picked up at a local indie rekkid store.
Greaseball: i don't know much about aussie rockabilly bands from the 50s & 60s, but my local record store, 78 records (at www.78records.com.au) has a website and carries lots of compilations, one of which may be what you're looking for.
Thanks Sue, You rock!
all aces here
as usual, you deftly mix famed and relatively obscure tracks. nice chopices for the kinks, who and beatles, too --- you pick great songs, but not ones so well-known they've lost all ability to thrill.
HP Lovecraft! Fabulous. My brother's sent me their way recently. And anything involving Mr. Hazlewood is a wonderful endeavor. Great choices all.
oh my god! THE ELECTRIC PRUNES! that is by far the best psychedellic song to come out of the 60s!! brilliant. oh i have to run and pull that song out of my collection now!
