During this past summer, I had picked up a copy of Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for GameCube, and spent many a day playing into the wee hours of the morning. The title is an homage to the marathon sessions of play and one of the insanity effects in the game. I wanted to make a mix of insomnia slowly descending into madness, starting off easy and slowly getting darker and darker. The ED rips were the perfect endcaps.
