Comment:
This is a political mix, but there is no single overarching theme. It's songs about the multitude of things that irritate me about life today, from war to television. The title is from the first (great) Billy Bragg song. Incidentally, I made a shirt with those exact words on it. It's gray; so if you see someone walking around with it on, you know they've stolen my shirt. Or it's me, I guess.Feedback:
Hell yes. Not too volatile, but still a rocking mix. I guess I'll wait for John Hancock day. Out.
Nice mix. These are things that irritate me as well.Nice tee shirt slogan, too.
Adam - This is a tremendous mix! It opens with my favorite Billy Bragg song, and closes with the greatest comedian of the last 20 years!!! Wonder what the late, great Bill Hicks would have to say about Gulf War II
...and I forgot to mention that it also has The Clash, "Death or Glory," which contains one of the all-time great lyrics: "...He who fucks nuns will later join the church..."
Great mix, all the way.
yes really great stuff, love that no 11, as well among others of course
Great job!
All good stuff Adam.., I was going to list fav's but it kept growing as I read downward....
Thanks for the comments everyone(and thanks to Sean for the JT; I forgot that in the comments).
SAG-I'm betting Bill would say pretty much what he says in this bit. It's so crazy to listen to, because he's talking about the war 15 years ago, but you'd never know. All of his points are still completely valid, down to his descriptions of Bush. It's just a different Bush. And the whole middle verse of that Clash song is one of my favorite parts of any song ever.
Peter-You're right. Track 11 is awesome. You don't hear enough about those guys.

great mix and great sun ra tune recently cooly covered by yo la tengo
you had my vote when you included trip shakespeare. I think this smile will be plastered on my face for the duration of the evening. kudos, cheers.
Adam, I can't believe I didn't get all these mixes when you came to visit. Shame on me...
oh goodness....a mix with two billy bragg songs AND an uncle tupelo song?! you're awesome adam. very nicely done. *claps* 'Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards' is just such a killer song.
I like this. A lot.
Absolutely top notch mix, Adam. Really great tracks all the way through, and ending with my favourite comedian/social commentator, the late Bill Hicks
Excellent!
Really good stuff! Are you sure your shirt didn't say "Steal this t-shirt"?
absolutely great mix and concept. billy bragg, phil ochs, yay.
Well, I'd have to say that "Help Save The Youth Of America" was Bragg's first great song, but "Great Leap Forwards" is, I agree, his best. I've been debating whether those two songs alone merit buying his new 2-cd greatest hits package... haven't made the great leap to CDUniverse.com just yet, though.
Looks excellent, Mr. Bristor. If I hadn't already sent your mixes out, I'd be requesting this one...
Oh, Marc, I just meant first Billy Bragg song in the mix, rather than chronologically. I'd go with "A New England" as his first great one in the scheme of his career. And I don't know what's on the package you mention, but if you don't have much Billy, I'd definitely recommend it. I love that man.
And Rob, speaking of that, I just got back from my mailbox with your mixes. I'm just about to pop the first one in. Once I get a chance to digest them, I'll let you know what I think. And yet again, thanks to everyone for the comments.

This is really cool Adam. I will always regret getting rid of the Trip Shakespeare disc I had.
