Is there something intrinsically funny about a country or bluegrass cover of a rock or r&b or reggaetune? I think maybe there is, but for this mix I've tried to pick versions that are fun to listen to even if there is something laughable about them.
Actually the Patsy Cline & Tibby Edwards performances are every bit as rocking as their sources, no joke!
Of course the Carter Family Are You Lonesome Tonight is the source, rather than a cover, of Elvis' version, but since his performance is the one most people are familiar with, it's surprisingly disconcerting to hear what a roots country song it really is.
I have to thank laufi for getting me started thinking about this, with his tribute to RUN C&W , a truly fun group.

beautiful! Hayseed Dixie is quite fun. Yeah Sean is right ,but it's actually Luther Wright, the band is called the Wrongs. They are from Kingston Ontario, not far from here.

nice concept for a mix, and well pulled off. also, sorry about not sending your mix off sooner, i've been in a bit of a slump monetary wise, but i should get the mix out tomorrow, along with another mix to to compensate for the lateness.
