Comment:
Wow...this was about as excrutiating as soaking forks in lemon juice and shoving them into my eyes. And it's killing me knowing that there's room for about five or six more songs here. Don't ever ask me to do this again. :-) In fact, if you asked me to do this next week, my choices might be slightly different. My two Beatle biases definitely came out here: namely 1966 and John Lennon. (Even though the white album is my favorite album of all time, I guess I like less individual songs from it). Originally, There's A Place and Don't Bother Me (probably my two favorite early years tunes) started this disc off, but they looked so ridiculous sitting there with a two year gap between them and track three that I decided against them. Oh, and take 2 of It's Only Love is one of the *only* Beatles alternate takes I prefer to the original version. Finally, it's no fluke there's nothing from Abbey Road or Let It Be here. (P.S. I stole Rob Conroy's method of sequencing by recording dates).
Feedback:
cant find fault with anything on here
What Gerry said. Actually, I'll bet about half of these would be on my own Beatles 20 if I ever did one. "And Your Bird Can Sing" has gotta be one of my all-time favs.
Some great picks, for sure, although "Love You To" would be nowhere near my top 20 (then again, you've *seen* my top 20).
For some reason, "Love You To" is currently my favorite George Beatles tune. Not sure how it ended up at the top of the pile, but there you have it. ("It's All Too Much" is a close second.)
13 of these would be in my top 20. "It's All Too Much" is somewhere in the neighborhood of being my favorite George tune, but it would be edged out by "Long, Long, Long", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps (take 1)", and maybe "Something" or "If I Needed Someone."
