Comment:

hmmm...Well, I have to admit that I was totally pleased with myself when I finished the structure of this mix. I luv-lover-luff-love it. Just to note, this is not a break-up mix, at least not for me personally (though I know it might seem like one). The title comes from Francesca Lia Block's Wasteland (to quote: "The rain is coming, I promise you. I didn't mean to but your tears will bring life back. Purple flowers grow, the color blood looks in veins. They'll sprout out of my chest. I promise you they'll crack the ground, grow over the freeways, down the slopes to the sea. I'll be in their faces. I'll be in the waves, coming down on you from the sky. I'll be inside..."). And the whole soul of this mix lies within the Spiritualized track. I caught a midnight showing of Vanilla Sky, and since then, I have just been enchanted by that scene when Ms. Cruz frolicks into the funeral - that moment of possibility, that end to any dreams of sherbet skies, blazing neon stars, and cotton candy sweet clouds. Yes, it's divine. Strange and beautiful. And so this is done.
