Comment:
For the most part, this mix explores one aspect of the 'murder ballad' theme in traditional music. 'Side B' represents alternative versions of the song that I think are worth listening to as well. The Lisa Germano clips are creepy merry-go-round music that seems to work in setting the mood. If anyone sees any glaring ommissions, please let me knowFeedback:
coooool. Yay, you!
i know you have her once already, but 'furnace room lullaby' by neko case is a good murder ballad.
thanks cass, I will check it out
When I saw "psycho-country" I immediately thought it would include Alex Chilton's "No More the Moon Shines on Lorena"(which is a death ballad, if not necessarily a murder ballad), but you included him anyhow! So, right, this looks awesome. Great job.
Oh, sorry, have to do two in a row. The Handsome Family are (is?) AMAZING too.
This is great. Makes me want to kill my old lady, just so somebody will write a song about it and then it would be included on a mixtape like this.
