Comment:

I made this mix for a couple of reasons - the main one being to show that there is substance and depth to be found in the best soul jazz. I often think it is looked down upon as the poor cousin of traditional jazz.I also made it as an experimentation in song lengths; I was amazed at how Fela could record songs over 20 minutes long and still hold the listener's attention throughout. That was the feeling I wanted to recreate here.
