Comment:
12/14/2002 -- A little sad, but not my usual morose stuff. Some quite beautiful stuff here ... CANDY'S ROOM is as much a movie as a song; The Blind Boys' AMAZING GRACE is just phenomenon -- terrific version combined with HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN; CRAZY MAMA is a sexy, pot-laded Sunday afternoon of a song; and ALMOST PERSUADED is one of my Country-Western favorites ...Feedback:
I do really like that version of Amazing Grace. I saw them on Austin City Limits; it was a very cool show. The mix is wonderful too.
I agree with the "Candy's Room" thought.., one of my favorite Bruce tracks which still stands the test each listen. (Albeit not often, at all, but.....) Also, a great pick from the Fear of Music LP...shadoobay....
Some nice pix. Kudos especially for Almost Persuaded (Miss Peaches, Etta James, also does a killer version) and Brother Ray's version of the great Lonely Avenue. When's somebody going to do a Doc Pomus Tribute?!?!?
Well, I think that person should be YOU!
Excellent!
another super mix, Sally Anne. I really love the two diff Elvis pix. The Roxy and Bruce pix are inspired too.
Wonderful.
a lot of good stuff here, love your triple intro
Another great one.
Bittersweet. I like this a lot. Doc Pomus was one of the best songwriters; apparently he could also sing blues very well, but I've never found any of his recordings.
