Comment:

This is something I have considered for a while, and with Westerberg releasing two CDs back-to-back, this seemed like a good time to do it. What we have here is a collection of the solo work that has come out of the Replacements. Tommy is behind Bash & Pop and Perfect, Paul uses the Grandpaboy alias, and Chris Mars goes by Chris Mars (and released a suprisingly good album). I wanted to get a little Slim on here, but just couldn't do it, and Bob never recorded anything before his death.
I've got to say, I was never all that into Paul's solo work until I saw him in concert, just he and his guitar. He mixed his songs, and Mats songs, and just blew me away. I've always loved the Replacements stuff, but now I've fallen head over heels in love with the man himself. Sometimes the production really fucks him over, but there are some great songs here. I wanted to include "Pine Box" and another Perfect song, but ran out of space, so they'll probably show up somewhere down the line.
Anyhow, it seems like I'm going to have a running theme here with Minneapolis bands, because my next single artist mix will cover yet another local group, though not the one you are thinking of.

This looks great Adam. I'm surprised you didn't wait until his next album comes out, less than two months from now. Ah well. LFTR PLLR, eh?

Hmm... I've pretty much hated all of the stuff that I've heard from Paul's solo records (aside from "Things" on the first album), so I'm leery of this but might be willing to trade for it with your endorsement. I've also got to admit that Bash & Pop, Perfect and Chris Mars were okay but unremarkable...

Choice picks Adam, but with Static Taxi's demo recordings just being released you may need a second volume. Maybe sometime after the next Guns & Roses.

Are they really releasing Static Taxi's demos?! I hadn't heard that. And, you know, GNR just missed the cut. Tommy was fine, but I was always a bigger fan of that Buckethead guy. Putting a bucket of chicken on your head...man, that's genius. I never heard if that new album came out or not.
