Comment:

For Christmas I'm giving my 15 year old cousin a copy of Michael Azerrad's "Our Band Could Be Your Life" along with this mix CD. I don't think I'll come across to him as some old guy pushing his old fogey tunes since we've had some good discussions on music recently. I guess I'm hoping that this will help along on the inevitable segue from punk to post punk/indie rock. I picked two tracks from each band represented, trying to stick to songs mentioned in the book. I think it works pretty well. Now here's to hoping he'll finally take down that Blink 182 poster that's in his room.

Just what every 15 year old Alt-rock fan needs--a benevolent older relative to show the way...

that's a great book, and the cd to go along is a fantastic idea...i know when i was reading it, i didn't have hardly any of the music and i really wanted to hear it!

Its a great book although a few of the chapters weren't too great, the Mudhoney one specifically. Great mix as well. Good song selection for each artist.
