Comment:
Okay, so here is a spontaneous mix from the top of my head for the mix idea posted by Muzg in the bulletin board. I saw Michael Steinmetz's mix for the same theme and it led me to Muzag's posting. Some of my choices are kind of obvious, but I did this in about ten minutes so I was pretty much using what popped into my mind first. Here are the categories with my comments on some of the tracks in parenthesis...1. A track that annoys animals
2. A track with French connections (recorded in France)
3. A track that is visual as much as it is musical
4. A track by an artist you regard as underappreciated
5. A track that should be used in an advert (you may like to suggest what it should advertise)
6. A track that mentions a colour in the title
7. A track from a favourite instrumentalist
8. A track that's a "guilty pleasure" but that you don't feel guilty about _at all_
9. A track predominantly featuring someone named Philip, George, Arthur or Keith (Phil Anselmo)
10. A track by a classical composer/artist who you'd like more people to listen to
11. A track from the oldest album in your collection (I think the Singles soundtrack is probably the album I've had and not sold/repurchased for the longest peroiod of time)
12. A track you like that was introduced to you by a friend with normally appalling musical taste
13. A track featuring only the artist and his/her instrument
14. A track to make people stop talking and start listening (who doesn't like Stevie Wonder?)
15. A track that is amongst the quietest that you own (whilst not being entirely silent)
16. A track that reminds you of a specific moment in your childhood ("glory days" with a best childhood friend)
17. A track that is religious
18. A track that mentions a meteorological phenomena in the title
19. A track in a musical style that you don't normally like but do like in this case (not a big country fan but I always liked this)
20. A track you think/know your grandparents would like (this was thier song)
This is a good idea for a mix and I hope to see others doing this as well. I may make another version of this when I have time to sit and think it out properly.
Feedback:
Nice ecclecticism and strategery. I amy remix mine too. How funny that the Singles Soundtrack fits the #11 hole for both of us. You know, I wasn't even thinking jazz with instrumentalists I was mainly thinking drummers and guitarists and maybe Jaco. Nice picks!
may not amy..its so hard to type in the morning when your fingers barely move.
this is really interesting steve. "cry me a river" by justin is my guilty pleasure song...ugh. I love your radiohead and jeff buckley picks!
