for my friend stephen -- who happens to be the av editor for _the onion_, so since he's heard EVERYTHING EVER RECORDED, this was obviously a challenge. eventually, i gave up on the idea of making him a cd of things i thought he might not have heard and picked sixteen of 2003's finest aural offerings. fwiw: the #1 record of the year, according to yrs truly, is the twilight singers' "blackberry belle." utterly unstoppable fucking genius.
