Comment:
mid-dec. 2003 -- For some reason, a Christmas mix for Anne became a dance CD. The title comes from a comment about our old girl's evolution from an asexual do-gooder to a caged go-go dancer at Oberlin College. Not necessarily all songs to dance to, but certainly about dancing. Equally enjoyable for booty-shaking or headphones contemplation. Starts off with one of the sickest riffs in the Jimmy Page catalogue, right on through some rock-solid club numbers, to a little 70s glam/androgynous love triangle, the ladies finally getting a voice (probably my favorite Madonna track, if only for the weirdly perfect music video that accompanies it), Leonard Cohen channeling Lorca in a heaven-hell of mal de siFcle, an unassuming Elton John classic (you mean he just sings the song twice?), the best faux-glam aria ever (perhaps not danceable per se, but voguing in and out of pouty postures is pretty fun times), nighttime slow-dances, Polly Jean doing her undeniable THANG, a word from her seducer ("the answer was become a Dancer"), and finally, a most angelic waltz. Technical note: mad thanks to iTunes 4 for giving greater freedom when it comes to time elapses between songs.Feedback:
I dig it. Elton, Leonard Cohen, a great Van Morrison track, a great starting song... classics and new stuff. Nice job!
Now that's a title.
Nice! Extra points in my book for the addition of "Hot One," and double extra points for getting Prince and The Velvet Underground on one mix.
i go to oberlin. any chance of a trade?
