Comment:
9 march 2004 -- O AOTMers, gather 'round and listen to my tale of woe. So there was this boy in my class on Versailles who I thought was kinda into me, and I was for sure into him...he lent me his Silver Jews CD, straight from the greasy spoon where he works nights, I decided to one-up that and make him a mixtape, a spontaneous outpouring of my favorite songs, whatever moved me at the moment (its spontaneity accounts for such seeming faux pas as 2 Dylan tracks on one side, etc. -- but everything sounds good). I wrote the typical letter-length liner notes, and even made nifty little college on the case. Who could resist such a token of love, right? So I gave it to him today, he dubbed the mixed tape a "lo-fi letter" (he appreciates the intimacy, right?) seems all excited about it...and I learn on our walk to the other side of campus that he has a girlfriend. And she's FRENCH. As soon as he is out of my sight, I throw myself and my bicycle to the ground and howl. What's worse -- the fact that I can never have him, or that I have provided such excellent material as potential love music for him and his mademoiselle?Feedback:
Shoot, a great mix like this can always be used again and besides now everytime he listens to your mix he will be thinking of you instead of her.
hemizen is wise...
tough one ... you never know if someone's digging ya with the lending of a single artist cd ... on the one hand, he gave you the cd; on the other hand, it's not a mix tape or anything ... but bravo for stepping up to the plate with great tunes from Dylan, BB & Wilco, Nina, Beatles and Blondie. keep this one in reserve ...
