for once i actually know what i want to get everyone in my family for christmas, but i don't have any money at all to buy things with. so i made everyone mix tapes and i'm going to put little notes in with them saying that they're both a present and a promise of a better present soon. this is the one for my father. incidentally, while i was listening to this tape for the first time i was writing a paper on battleship potemkin and i had to re-watch the odessa steps sequence, but i didn't feel like turning off the tape, so i watched it with the volume off and the part of the tape with you don't send me and pulled up on it playing instead. i highly recommend this. watching the baby carriage falling down the stairs while david byrne talks about how you pulled him up pulled him up up up up up up up up up ya ya ya ya ya ya ya ya is particularly awesome.
