Comment:
Grand Buffet's answer to Eddie and the Crusier's "Seasons in Hell." In the latter years of the 20th Century, it was rumoured that GB had been secretly working on the follow up to their critically acclaimed "Scrooge McRock," supposedly entitled "Peter Weller" after the 80's b-movie action film star. As the seasons changed, questions began to fly: where was the album? What was going to be on it? Those attending Grand Buffet shows were teased with short hints at new songs, but the disc never appeared, and finally in October of 2000 they unleashed the now-classic "Sparkle Classic." Officially, the band denied that "Peter Weller" ever existed, but there were many unanswered questions and leftover song fragments: where did the fliers advertising the impending release of the album come from? Had "Peter Weller" really been scrapped in favor of a project known only as "GB vs. BALL TICKS"? Lord Grunge (then known as M-Dog) admitted that "everything from technical difficulties to video game addiction, creative differences to the eternal struggle against lethargy" had interfered with the recording, and that "the obstacles continue to increase in numbers and strength." Indeed, the pressure continued to grow, but whatever became of the album is lost to history. However, songs have continued to surface, their origins dubious, their quality questionable, with only one fact never in dispute: it is, indeed, Grand Buffet.
