It was this really cold Sunday night and I was listening to Velvet Underground, as I frequently am, and I decided "Wouldn't it be brilliant if there was a mix of all VU pretty songs in succession?" Because it's hard to take, say, 'Sister Ray', in all of its splendor, sometimes. So that's the first side. Strictly pretty, gentle songs. They're very nice when you listen to them all together. (I know, 'Sweet Jane' isn't pretty and gentle, but's the full version, so the "heavenly white roses..." part qualifies it.) The second side is just a VU mix for my own enjoyment and to fill up the tape. Sortof got a bit of everything. I'd like to dedicate this tape to my Grandfather, who always tried to teach me some kind of fiscal responsibility. He's against buying loads of 'record-albums'. Especially if it's my many impulses to buy more VU. Because there just isn't enough. Hats off, Grandpa. And long live 'exhausting noise.'
