Comment:

Yesterday was my first anniversary as an AotM'er... not sure that that has any significance but ... So, this is a series I made for my recent, lamented ex. I mean, at least he inspired me to some good mixes, no? He confessed (THAT BASTARD) that he never much listened to this one 'cuz he didn't really like Nat 'King' Cole ... too bad I didn't know that before I slept with ... coulda been a deal-breaker right there... anyway ... stand-out tracks (besides the Nat Cole) on this include the Niamh Parsons (lovely harmony on there by Brian Kennedy who also sang back-up with Van Morrison), the always killer Julie London, the C Wilson cover of Killing Me Softly ... and Aretha's cover of If Ever I Would Leave You. It's a mediocre song, but Aretha gets everything and more out of it. One of her best recordings from the period. And the Laurie Lewis is kinda jejune I know, but sometimes it sure feels true.

A+ on the front half, don't know much about the second half.

And you now hold the distinction of being the only person I have ever heard use the word "jejune".

Wow - Nat King Cole as an 'acid test'. I like that. Super duper, trouper.

To answer your questions: yes, it IS significant; yes, good mixes inspired. Ha! That's a good one: Nat King as "acid test"! Me, I'd take any woman who used the word "jejune" competently. Nice anniversary mix!!! Congratulations, and long may you reign! Luminesse...
