Comment:
All of the songs here feature somebody from Manchester. Feel free to let me know if I left anybody out that could have been included.Feedback:
The Mersey is Liverpool not Manchester and there are simply loads of Mancurian Bands: The Chameleons, The Fall (possibly the most famous after Joy Division)Frantic Elevators (lead singer Simply Red's Mick Hucknall), The Passage, Blue Orchids, New Fast Automatic Daffodils, A Certain Ratio, The Railway Children...Magazine...and so on and so on...still well done for Davy Jones!
Whoops I meant MANCUNIAN!
I think I even knew that about Mersey and Liverpool when I posted it... oh well. I'll do better next time.
i would also recommend puressence, another fantastic and highly underrated mancunian band...looks excellent tho' :)
Nice choices, especially Doves and that's a great Smiths pick! Appreciate the 808 State too. If you're not being really strict on band members, you could include Primal Scream - they're not all Mancunian but some are (same goes for Electronic). And maybe Moz solo, though The Smiths obviously take priority. :) Also, Elbow, Lamb, Crispy Ambulance, Durutti Column, and 10CC are all lovely Mancunian products!
i definitely second the inclusion of the chameleons. and a lot of the shoegazer bands as well...
also, that is one of my favorite new order songs. it's so good, but everyone over looks it in favor of the earlier records... which i guess makes sense since republic has some pretty cheesy parts.
whoops. a lapse in memory made me realize that a lot of the bands of the shoegaze era aren't technically from manchester.
Brillant stuff
