Comment:
1. A song from the last record you bought2. A blues, a song that is labelled "(something) blues"
3. A song that gets you going in the morning
4. A song that you think is romantic
5. One of the earliest records that you can remember listening to
6. A song that you discovered from a film
7. A song from your favourite band/artist
8. A song from an artist band that you otherwise don't like, but like this one
9. A lullaby
10. A song that makes you laugh or you find funny

12. A song that reminds you of school days
13. A song from an artist that you are embarrassed to admit you like
14. Whatever it is, it's got to be funky
15. A song for those quiet rainy days
16. A song that no matter when you hear it makes you feel good
17. A song with the word "look" in the title

Select Notes:
1. Jeff Buckley - Grace (yes, I know I am VERY late buying this)
4. I highly recommend checking out music by the Bathers (from Scotland)
5. When I was 8 or so, a co-worker of my dad's gave him a big stack of 45's which my brother and I enjoyed listening to on our Radio Shack turntable. I sure wish I had those records now so I could go through them and see just what gems we had. Sadly, they are long gone.
6. First heard in "Until the End of the World" but not on the soundtrack.
7. It's hard to choose a favorite artist/song these days, but Kate really captivated me for several years.
11. Original version by The Red Crayola.
12. One of my most distinct memories of high school is being on the morning bus early in my freshman year. Someone on the bus had a boombox and when this song came on, a girl said "Turn it up, please". I know it is all too hip to dismiss Journey these days, but I still think this song is pretty good. Maybe it's the nostalgia.
13. I don't really know anything else by Charlene, and I admit this song is schmaltzy as hell, but I still like it.

Feedback:
now see, the thing with these "challenge" mixes, is that while they seem like a lot of fun to make...they wouldn't be very fun to listen to due to the fact that they're completely random, ah well, propers anyways.
I tend to agree with you on that. But I had fun compiling it, at any rate. And I actually DO like listening to this one, at least. :-)
ah, well that is the point right, it's fun making AND comes together quite nicely
I'm going to disagree with avant - my frankenstein mix was fun to make and actually listens quite well. I think it worked because they were all songs that I liked - if there were some "your most hated song" and "song that gives you a headache type things that would be another story all together.
Amazingly great cover art! Great Lullaby pick. The Jounry pick scares me, but you've attached a good memory to it. And I'm not a recent Journey hating hipster - they've been my most hated band for over 20 years - actually one of the only bands I would go as far as saying I hate. Which makes it interesting around this house since my wife just adores them.

I took some liberties with the title. The original title line was "The Man Who Made a Monster" which is great, because then you understand that it's the MAN who is named "Frankenstein" and not the monster itself. With my version, it implies that the Monster is named "Frankenstein". I could have gone with "The Man Who Made a Monster Who Made a Mix", which I think is kind of fun, but too many words, so I let the error ride.
Nice one Brent.....good calls on the Church and Shriekback! (Also the Galxie, Sylvian, and XTC.)
It lives! It lives!
Great mix, fabulous cover.
Great mix, fabulous cover.
This looks good; ditto valis on the Galaxie and XTC choices! And I LOVE your cover art.
Damn, thats a cool idea... Kate Bush is your favorite artist?
"Kate Bush is your favorite artist?" Used to be. Hard to say now. I find it extremely difficult to point to one artist as my favorite. It was easier in the past. I think my progression of favorite artists from youngest to most recently might go something like: Styx - Asia - Yes - Marillion - Kate Bush - The Church - David Sylvian - Not Drowning Waving / My Friend the Chocolate Cake - Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Brian Wilson - The Bathers - ??? (And somewhere in there I would toss in Go-Betweens, Jazz Butcher, Prefab Sprout, Todd Rundgren, etc.) As I said, extremely hard to choose...
nice, gr8 cover 2
This looks like a fine listen to me! Good job.
Nice to see that the Frankenstein mix is still alive and kicking! (It's alive! It's alive!) Great pick from the Church -- one of my favorite's by them (along with No Explanation). So just how cute was that girl who told you to crank up the Journey? It could explain a lot of things.
It wasn't me playing Journey...just someone else on the bus with a boombox. I don't know why but that's just a really clear distinct memory.
love this! i shall now swipe your challenge list and make my own.
