Comment:
This is by no means "The" definitive Robyn mix, no Soft Boys, nothing past 1990, really, but it does capture one of my favorite periods in his career. I put this together for my sister, who's been bugging me for this for a few years now. It's mostly the quirky, upbeat, rocking stuff. I also love his darker side, but those tracks just didn't mix well with these, so I'll have to compile another mix just to showcase them together. Seemed like just the right thing for the warmer weather.Feedback:
Nice.
Indeed. I like the looks of this one.
Oh yeah! This looks great.
haven't heard all of this but it sure looks good
I must confess he's one of those artists I have never heard though I see his name everywhere!
Excellent. He definitely deserves more than one single single artist mix, 'specially since there are so many great songs missing . . . Just listened to Fegmania the other day; boy, whatta great record! BTW, where's The Fly?!;)
I know, I LOVE Fegmania and Black Snake Diamond Role, but they're on vinyl and my turntable's been acting up, so I compiled it from tracks I had available at the time. I'll be transferring those albums to CD as soon as I get my turntable fixed!
Wow - you got so many of my faves. Wow - you missed so many of my faves. I could never commit to a track listing for a Hitch mix - but yours stands up smashingly. And you took the title I would have used - it's perfect. You did get my two faves: If You Were A Priest and Somewhere Apart.
Dale, That's why it has taken me years to compile this darn thing! I actually started out with over three hours of tracks that I had to whittle down, it was excruciating. I really love Eye, but none of the tracks fit on here well, so another mix it will have to be!
I've tried to make a Hitchcock/Soft Boys mix several times & you're right, there are just too many great tracks for one mix.
what everyone said and more. saw him again last year (or was it the year before?) and he never fails to entertain. the cool thing about him is that we could all make totally different single artist mixes of his goodies - and all would be good. i like some of his post-90 stuff. has anyone heard the dylan tribute record? it's one of those things i'd like to hear, but i never quite get around to buying it. anywho - this is boss. thanks, bugsy - cool tribute to a real sweetheart.
Really nice! I think we can all agree that Robyn is pretty underappreciated in the grand scheme of pop music. Makes me feel bad that I'm not familiar with more of his stuff.
Hugely cool. One of the greatest indie artists of the past 25 years; he's been sadly inconsistent for the past decade, but even his weakest albums have some great tracks, and his strongest albums (Fegmania, Black Snake) are fantastic. Nice attempt at getting it down to one disc; I wimped out and opted for two (http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=37414 and http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=37415), and that's not counting my separate Soft Boys mix. Kudos on including "One Long Pair Of Eyes," a simply beautiful song that's often omitted from the classic RH canon.
Looks swell. I don't know his music well, but I know that I should. Saw his old bandmate Asa Brebner recently ... he was acoustic and you could tell he wanted to rock out ...
