Comment:

I just recently discovered that our cover star had a baby last year. News that pleased me, and got me thinking.

Of course, it's possible to make a quite different compilation out of the works of Amy Fletcher by including both her not-very-good disco diva efforts and the best of her many excellent collaborations with others (personally I would always include a couple of Wedding Present songs and at least two live tracks recorded with the Pooh Sticks), but this is not that compilation. This is a mix that aspires to do something a little different.

If you know the songs and the stories, then you've probably got it already. If not, feel free to listen and enjoy and learn. It's heartbreakingly good.

This looks excellent! I've always been a fan of whatever projects she gets involved in. So she had a baby?! I didn't think she had it in her after hearing "Sperm Meets Egg, So What?" And yes, it is possible to make a "quite different compilation out of the works of Amelia Fletcher." Check out the mix I posted here a few months ago for further proof.

Very funny! So where did you find the track with David Gedge? I know it's from a radio session, but was never officially released.

So where did you find the track with David Gedge?

The interweb is your friend. I can probably email it to you, or at least host it somewhere you can download it from. Unfortunately, it has Peel talking over the intro/outro so I had to edit it a little to fit it into the mix as hosted.

i'm not very familiar with her work

Well, here's your chance. Follow the link and you can hear a lot of her stuff in one go.

Great mix! I love it. So, Trophy Girlfriend, Talulah Gosh, and Testcard Girl are my favorites. Thanks for putting this together!
