Comment:

Repeat a lie long enough and loud enough, and people will start believing it ... Please your ego ... Turning rebellion into money ... Trapped in the House of the Perpetual Sucker where bitterness always ends so pitifully, you always had to dress up your envy ... My arrogance rumbles before me ... When it's hot, I feel ambitious ... Oh, so terribly cut up ... The man whose head expanded does not want to appear illiterate ... A cheap holiday in other people's misery ... We're smarter than you ... We'll have to teach ourselves to analyze and understand ... THE WHITE MAN HAS JUST FOUND A NEW MORAL SAVIOUR

Excellent concept and execution. Is it about the art or the money?

You can point the first 12 songs at Rush Limbaugh and have a direct hit as well. There are few successful media propagandaists (on any side) that didn't start out with the best intentions and up corrupted with self adulation and chronic hypocrisy. While Michael Moore looses focus and goes off on some pretty unreasonable tirades he has at least remained true to the values he started his career with years ago with the independent press. And although I don't think we're sitting on the same side of the table I'll have to say that still love a well executed theme disc, especially one with a sense of humor along with a little bite, and you've nailed it. Especially the Fall pick. Run DMC's "You Talk Too Much" might also fit in nicely. -Dale/ThisIsPop!

Dale > You might be surprised where I sit politically. I could write screeds, but I'd rather make a mix tape that suggests people just think for themselves.

Let's just say I'm deeply offended by Moore, his tactics, his lies and his ability to change direction mid-stream in search of a cause he can use.

And honestly, I'm also offended by his success. By the fact that so many people are falling for it.

"Yes," they say, "thanks Mike. I never would've noticed without your help but yes, George W Bush DOES mislead and lie to the nation and yes, he DOES cater to the special interest groups his father supported. How appalling!

"I'll vote for the party of Clinton and Gore instead because they're quite different.

"And I'll give my money and applause to Michael Moore because he'd NEVER mislead me or lie to me."

Forget his complete volte face on Bin Laden and all that good stuff, this is a man whose Bowling For Columbine employed footage of 96 people dying in an horrific accident at a football match in the UK as an example of football hooliganism - when in fact it was caused by a combination of police incompetence and an unsafe stadium. Of course, I'm sure it looked very good, very effective, in the editing suite, but it was a lie that pissed on the graves of 96 people. Michael Moore wouldn't know a principle if it smacked him in the face. And that's exactly what I'd do if he ever turned up at the scene of my tragedy with his camera and his me-me-me agenda.

The BBC licensed the footage to Moore when he requested stock footage of 'football hooliganism'.
They even replaced the footage for the dvd/video release and were in contact with the Hillsborough Justice Campaign to ensure them that it was not their intention to portray the Hillsborough disaster as an act of 'football hooliganism'.

Besides, he could've used footage from Heysel (which was the result of violent hooligans), any of the numerous other incidents of football hooliganism in the 1980's, or brawls between West Ham & Millwall supporters as recent as last autumn.

A solid mix, however, getting all worked up criticising Moore is just as sad as being a cheerleader for him.
Especially if you cut and paste compaints straight from some right wing 'micheal moore hates america' site.

I do my own thinking. I work with the HJC. I know exactly that happened there. Moore was "in contact" with us because we called him. You might as well say you are "in contact" with the IRS/Inland Revenue when they send you a demand for back taxes.

And I would expect a "serious film-maker" to check his facts before the fact (as it were) rather than waiting to be embarrassed into doing so. But then maybe that's just me.
