the theme of this mix is the song "song for a mixtape" by the ataris. in it there's a line that goes "today i made you a mixtape / to tell you exactly how i feel inside / and hope you feel it too" and i did just that for my boyfriend. there's a couple of other references to the song, too.. for example, it says in the beginning "today i made you a mixtape / and i decorated it with lots of stars" and the cds are covered with stars. also there are two cds, "side one" and "side two." (i had to list this as cassette so it'd let me use side one and side two, but it's actually on CDs) one more thing: another part of the song goes "it had jawbreaker and armchair martian / built to spill and the descendents / hell, i even put one of ours on it" and i put a jawbreaker, built to spill, descendents, and another ataris song on the mix. anyway, i just thought it was a cute idea. i went over all the lyrics and made sure that they all fit with how i feel about him and it's the mushiest cd i've ever made, ha.
